The love for model flying
New runway
Model flying has been one of the great passions of the owner Franz Pacheiner since childhood. The love for this sport is the driving force behind constantly improving and expanding the offer for model flight enthusiasts.
For many years, the Pacheiner has been the Eldorado for model flyers in Carinthia. Perfect external conditions, ideal thermals, and the possibility to pursue one's passion in any wind direction make this model flying hotspot stand out. The private repair room, storage facilities for planes, and the personal flight passion of the host create a comprehensive full-service for model flight enthusiasts.
As a special highlight, the new spacious landing field directly in front of the hotel was put into operation a few days ago. Its size offers the advantage that self-starting gliders can find perfect starting opportunities under ideal conditions. The dimensions of this expansion were designed so that even the Archaeopteryx - a high-end hang glider in a sailplane configuration - with its considerable wingspan of 13.5 m can take off and land without any problems.
Slowly take off. Fly far.
Why take off from a place that really grounds you? Rise up when advertising says that there is actually no higher place than the summit. Limits disappear.
The Gerlitzen is widely known beyond its borders for its special thermals. And it serves as an ideal base camp for model and paragliders for high-altitude flights. Wind and thermal conditions at their finest offer the best conditions high above the clouds - right in front of the hotel's door. Even as a non-flyer, it's an exciting spectacle - almost daily observable from your terrace. And don't worry: the gliders are completely noiseless, gas-powered brothers of the air must stay outside or below.
Household tradition: a separate workshop and storage room for experienced flight hobbyists.
