Important Winter Notice
Please note that Alpinhotel Pacheiner is located at an altitude of 1,900 meters on the summit of Gerlitzen Alpe in Carinthia. Winter equipment and snow chains are therefore mandatory.
Information about the Toll Road: The "Gerlitzen Gipfelstraße" (Gerlitzen Summit Road) is a toll road during the summer season. We kindly ask you to pay the small toll fee at the automated machine upon arrival. You will then receive a toll card at our reception, which grants you free access for all subsequent trips. Thank you.
Attention: The road from Bodensdorf or Treffen to the summit does NOT lead to the hotel!
From Salzburg/Germany
Take the A10, the Tauern motorway, until the "VILLACH-Ossiacher See" exit.
Drive on the B94 towards "Ossiacher See" until you reach the roundabout. Take the third exit towards "Arriach" and follow the B98, the Millstätter Straße. You will pass through the towns of Treffen (CAUTION: Do NOT turn towards "Gerlitzen Kanzelhöhe"!), Köttwein, and Äußere Einöde.
Continue towards "Himmelberg" (passing the town of Arriach). After a total of about 20 kilometers (since the highway exit), you will turn right after the town of Arriach towards the "Gerlitzen Gipfelstraße" (Gerlitzen Summit Road). There is a sign indicating Alpengasthof Pacheiner.
From there, it is another 12 kilometers to the summit. After 3.2 kilometers on this summit road, there is a sharp right turn over a crest to the toll station. Then, continue on this winding road without turning anywhere. You will have reached your destination, Alpinhotel Pacheiner.
Von Wien/Graz kommend
Take the A2, the South motorway till the Villach junction, take the Tauern-motorway A10, towards Salzburg
until the "Villach-Ossiacher See" exit.
